Announcing the launch of our CSA!

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce our first concrete step toward building a sustainable Gilpin County, launching our first CSA!

farmers marketWhat is a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture is a way for local folks to pre-pay for seasonal, organic produce. Your money goes directly to the farmers to invest in seeds, soil and labor, and in return you get super-fresh, super-local and totally organic produce at wholesale prices + 10% to cover The Holistic Homestead’s overhead.

Members of the Holistic Homestead get 10% off all Homestead products, and have the advantage of getting produce at wholesale pricing. Annual memberships cost $25, click here to become a member today!

Right now we are sourcing our produce through Colorado Fresh Produce to get organic Colorado produce delivered once a month. As our CSA grows, we will increase pick-up days from monthly to weekly. If you know of any organic farmers in Gilpin who would like to be involved, please let us know.

Most CSA’s require an upfront payment for the whole season of $300 – $500. Recognizing that this may not be feasible for many people, your upfront cost is $30/month for 2 big boxes or shopping bags (about 27 pounds) filled with produce! (Members only pay $27 per month, that’s direct-to-you wholesale pricing). We will place our first order when we have a minimum of $300 prepaid orders. Then we will contact you with the pick-up date and time, all food distribution will happen at The Holistic Homestead, 972 Golden Gate Canyon Rd. Black Hawk, CO 80422.

We’ll weigh your produce at check out…and that’s it! You go home with fresh, organic, seasonal produce to incorporate into your best recipes and support the health and wellbeing of your whole family.

Eventually, The Holistic Homestead does plan to open a Co-Op Market with regular hours and a larger selection, we are currently raising funds to rent and renovate the 700 sq. ft. retail space at 972 Golden Gate Canyon Rd (at the High Country Professional Building). Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today, via PayPal to theholistichomestead@gmail.com; or send check or MO to: The Holistic Homestead, 972 Golden Gate Canyon Rd. Black Hawk, CO 80422)

Community support is crucial to bringing this service to the county, and the timing is critical to our shared success. Thank you for your generous, tax-deductible donation!

In the meantime, as we do not have investment capital or storage space, this is the most effective way to bring healthy, wholesome fresh, organic produce to the heart of Gilpin County – and at wholesale prices.
