What a year….! Even without the pandemic, and recession, and civil rights movement…. 2020 was poised to be a HUGE year at the Homestead as the first year with our new Homestead Market!
I won’t lie – there were definitely times in 2020 when I thought it was just too hard, when I was ready to give up. But the enthusiasm of our members, dedication of our volunteers and incredible support of our sponsors made this our year to not only survive with our new Homestead Market, but THRIVE.
We would not still be here without two significant grants – one through the Colorado COVID relief fund for the purchase and installation of our sinks, produce cooler, merchandising refrigerator and freezer, and another from the Ladybug Foundation to invest in our most important asset: PEOPLE. With generous support from the Ladybug Foundation we were able to hire our Executive Director, Arwen Ek, and create a new position for Market Manager, for which we selected Casey McCalip!
Check out our incredible 2020 year in review – and see you in 2021!
