Don’t miss our Labor Day Weekend Farmers Market this year at the Gilpin County Fairgrounds! 12 vendors, 3 live bands, face painting, fresh produce, local crafts, FOOD and contests!

PIE EATING CONTEST

Friday, September 3rd

Registration fee: $5

Registration times: 10-11 am

Judged event: 11:15 am

Details: BIB’S AND PIES PROVIDED, HANDS-FREE AND BLINDFOLDED (this is going to be hillarious, just sayin’)

Prize: Winner gets a gift certificate for some REAL GOOD PIE from Panda’s Pastries & Pies

BIGGEST & BEST OF GILPIN!

Saturday, September 4th

Registration fee: $5/entry

Registration times: 10-11 am

Judged event: 11:15 am – 12 noon

Details: Bring your biggest and most beautiful produce! Must be grown in Gilpin County. We’re looking for biggest tomato, potato, squash, and chicken egg!

Prize: Each category winner gets a $50 gift certificate to the Homestead!

WILDEST MUSHROOMS & BEST FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Sunday, September 5th

Registration fee: $5/entry

Registration times: 10-11 am

Judged event: 11:15 am – 12 noon

Details: Mushrooms must be Gilpin grown or foraged, NO POISONOUS MUSHROOMS!, EDIBLE VARIETIES ONLY, judged on size, shape, color, texture, and weight. Flower arrangements are judged on size, color, variety, and incorporating local flora.

VOLUNTEER JUDGES NEEDED!

If you are interested in being a volunteer judge for these fun contests plan on being at the Fairgrounds at 11 am on the day of your favorite event. Judges may not also be contestants, just sayin’.
